If Michelin was to publish a Guide for North Carolina, what Restaurants in the Outer Banks might have a chance for a star? I am thinking maybe Paper Canoe in Duck. What other ones are there? |

I have to say SAM AND OMIES in Nags Head for the history alone. Read up on how OREGON INLET came to be. |

My favorite for years was The Fisherman's Wharf in Wanchese. An upstairs place with good food with a fabulous view of the sound and Oregon Inlet. Too bad they decided to close. |

My favorite for years was The Fisherman's Wharf in Wanchese. An upstairs place with good food with a fabulous view of the sound and Oregon Inlet.when I was in a charter last summer the captain mentioned a Canada firm owns the building and will not lease it out for another restaurant and that everything is still there and could be made new again. |

Doesn't anybody cook at home anymore? I mean, we always picked up something fresh and cooked it ourselves. Michelin stars don't matter because food is subjective. Some people like a fried dinner and some people like a broiled dinner. |

Colington Cafe and Owens are our go to places Owens was always the epitome of consistency, year after year, it was the same. If you liked it 5 years ago it is still the same today. I'll be curious to hear if you have noticed any changes with the new ownership. I heard the gift shop is gone. |

Colington Cafe and Owens are our go to places Unfortunately we won't be down until 2025. Hope both the places have the same great food and service. We first went to Owens in 1991, always had a great meal and service |

The Michelin guide would not cover any area without financial support from that area’s business association of COC. Individual restaurants that are reviewed do so largely based on their publicist or necessarily the food. There are excellent places to eat on the Outer Banks of various type. There are very few, if any, that would be considered fine dining. That reflects the nature of the location as the more casual style fits the beach environment |

Based on how a restaurant receives stars I would say the closest Outer Banks restaurant to a star would be The Colington Cafe. Of course this is not to say that the Outer Banks does not have excellent places to dine, such as The Paper Canoe, Kill Devil Grille, The Blue Point. |

Gotta give a shout out to Cafe Pamlico as a "potential" (to MikeWs point were it a thing in small towns) Michelin star. Dining indoors, ordering the fresh catch of the day is about as close to dining at, say, Commanders in NOLA as one can get. |

Agreed, but while my question was specific to the Outer Banks, the Guide if they ever did publish one would be the entire state of North Carolina, I actually read an article that was exploring the feasibility of a Michelin Guide for NC as a whole which is why I asked the question. Michelin currently lists 14 Hotels in North Carolina, but no Restaurants. |

Gotta give a shout out to Cafe Pamlico as a "potential" (to MikeWs point were it a thing in small towns) Michelin star. Virginia's only Michelin Star Restaurant (a 3) is at the Inn at Little Washington in Washington, Virginia, Population 83. SA-LOU! |

Gotta give a shout out to Cafe Pamlico as a "potential" (to MikeWs point were it a thing in small towns) Michelin star. True, but I think that’s because the chef is pretty widely known and been there for ever. |

One of my all time favorite restaurants is an authentic Cantonese spot in VA Beach called "Guangdong Taste". I imagine there aren't many Chinese places on the Michelin roster but this place is something special. The roast duck is off the charts and the soup dumplings are unmatched. They serve everything family style with a large rotating platform in the center of the table so everybody gets a taste of something. We have many of our extended family get togethers there. Great atmosphere too. |
