Motorists in Singapore are in for a change in Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) rates, with adjustments coming in two phases. Starting January 2, drivers will face increased rates at four key locations, while six other spots will see a temporary reduction in rates during the year-end school holidays, from November 24 to December 31. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced these changes on November 17, citing the need to manage congestion on expressways. The LTA's decision is based on traffic monitoring conducted in October, which revealed congestion at various points on the highways.
Here's a breakdown of the changes:
Rate Increases:
- AYE (After North Buona Vista towards Tuas): Motorists will pay $1 between 5 pm and 5:30 pm.
- CTE (Before PIE): Drivers heading north will pay $1 between 5:30 pm and 7 pm.
- KPE (ECP) (After Defu Flyover): A $5 charge will be imposed between 8 am and 8:30 am.
- PIE (Kallang Bahru and Bendemeer Slip Road): Rates will be $1 between 7:30 am and 8:30 am and 9:30 am to 10 am, with a $2 charge from 9 am to 9:30 am.
Rate Reductions (November 24 - December 31):
- AYE (Jurong Town Hall towards the city): $3 between 7:30 am and 8 am, $2 between 5:30 pm and 6 pm.
- CTE (Braddell Road and PIE Slip Road): $1 between 7:30 am and 8 am, $3 between 8 am and 8:30 am, $2 between 9:30 am and 10 am.
- PIE (Adam and Mount Pleasant): $1 between 7:30 am and 8 am.
- PIE (Westbound before Eunos Link): No ERP fare between 7:30 am and 8:30 am.
- KPE (ECP) (After Defu Flyover): No ERP fare from 7 am to 7:30 am, $2 between 7:30 am and 8 am.
- CTE (Changi/Serangoon Road): $1 between 7:30 am and 8 am, $2 between 8 am and 8:30 am, $4 between 8:30 am and 9 am, $3 between 9 am and 9:30 am.
The LTA emphasizes that these adjustments are part of ongoing efforts to optimize traffic flow and reduce congestion. They will continue to monitor traffic conditions and may further adjust ERP rates as needed.
