Hi mamas, I do not want any judgment here already going through so much. I’ve been dealing with a lot of anxiety. I’m in constant fear that my child (13months old) has autism. Not that that’s the worst thing but life is hard enough and I don’t want him to struggle more than he has too. I have talked to his pediatrician about my concerns and he says he’s perfectly fine but I don’t know. Here is a list of things he does.
-babbles mostly dada and baba, says car, babas for bubbles, brings me toys, if I say give me and he has something in his hand he will give it to me, gives kisses/hugs, plays peekaboo actively takes a blanket and hides his face, high fives, plays patty cake, throws a ball and rolls it back and forth, throws ball in a hoop, walks constantly, claps, waves, responds to his name, has started to point but at random things,, goes up the steps, brushes my hair if I give him a comb and tell him brush mamas hair, great eye contact.
Concerns- recently started to cover ears (pediatrician says due to molars) but I see him do it when the dog moves the tail near his face (this has decreased a lot the last two days), has been walking for 2 months flat on his feet but I noticed last night he was standing on his tippy toes but still walking on his feet flat, constantly on the move, flapping when excited, when walking he will clap his hands or move his hands
What do you ladies think?? Is it my anxiety or should I get him evaluated. Thank you for listening.

Honestly, all these things sound completely normal and your anxiety is getting the best of you. Relax and enjoy your baby.

I think you should talk to your own doctor about your symptoms.

Your baby sounds perfectly normal and not autistic. I know every autistic person is different but my niece has high functioning autism and she was nowhere near as advanced as your baby seems. She didn’t make eye contact. She never stopped crying. Things like that. I also have anxiety about other things but something that helps me is repeating a fact. Like if I were you I’d say over and over to myself “my son is perfectly healthy and intelligent. I’m so grateful. My son is perfectly healthy and intelligent. I’m so grateful.” Something like that. It seems dumb but it really does help me so it might help you! :) good luck! You’re doing great!

Hi there! Feel free to ask any questions for reassurance. I am awaiting ASD assessment for my 3yo girl. Most of what you have stated seems pretty typical for a baby this age. When my daughter was around 12 months, she did not gesture at all, did not babble, minimal interactions. Obvious traits didn’t present themselves till closer to 18months. She is non verbal currently. I would say the only signs she has displayed since being a baby (before the obvious traits around 18months) were literally only sleep disturbances & gastro issues. So it is not only developmental delays you would notice around this time. Otherwise I didn’t start questioning anything till around 18months. I had PPA with her due to sleep deprivation & constant anxiety around having a deep feeling that something was going on. She is my 2nd child, my first child is neurotypical

@Mommyandmythree,
thanks so much! Like I mentioned it’s not the end of the world if he is but it’s just anxiety overload when you see other kids and they’re not doing these things

@LM65,
@LM65, definitely not the end of the world I am in the acceptance phase with my daughter & she is perfect as she is, I wouldn’t change a thing even if I could! We were blessed with her for a reason. So yes try not to get overwhelmed thinking “what if” & also try not to compare to other children. It is very hard to do that but creating that separation in thoughts really helps with your own well-being x
