Green Bay Packers Make Changes to Practice Squad: Shemar Bartholomew Joins, Tyron Herring and Michael Woods II Depart
The Green Bay Packers have made some strategic moves on their practice squad, as announced by General Manager Brian Gutekunst on Tuesday. The team has signed cornerback Shemar Bartholomew to the practice squad, while releasing cornerback Tyron Herring and wide receiver Michael Woods II from the same squad.
Shemar Bartholomew, a second-year player, brings a wealth of experience to the team. He initially signed with the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent in 2024, showcasing his determination to make it in the NFL. After being released from the Jets following training camp, Bartholomew found a new home with the Carolina Panthers, where he made his mark as a rookie. He appeared in five games, contributing three tackles (two solo), two passes defensed, and a tackle for a loss. This season, Bartholomew has been a versatile player, spending time on the practice squads of both the Panthers and the Minnesota Vikings.
Bartholomew's collegiate career began at Northwestern State, where he played from 2018 to 2022. He then transferred to Georgia Southern for his final year of eligibility in 2023, further demonstrating his commitment to his craft. The Packers have assigned him jersey number 34, adding a new face to the team's defensive lineup.
These strategic moves highlight the Packers' commitment to building a strong and versatile practice squad, ensuring they are well-prepared for any challenges that lie ahead in the NFL.
