How do I start?
Complete the Living World Season 4 Episode 6 War Eternal story. Once done, you should receive mail from Gorrik After reading this a map marker will be placed for the collection within Dragonfall near the place you first encountered Skyscales in the story [&BM8LAAA=] talk to Gorrik and this will complete A Dire Issue

A total of 22 Charged Quartz Crystal
High Vault mastery on your springer
Shifting Sands mastery on your jackal
The griffon will also be very useful (NOT needed as you can rent Skyscales)

Skyscale Medicine
Buy five items from Volatile Magic vendors, for the first two purchase Stabilized Brandstorm Flux and Tincture of Volatile Magic from the Traveling Elonian Trader beside the Pact Command Waypoint - [&BN4LAAA=]
For the remaining three, you will need to participate in meta events. Once you do 10 events per lane, you will be able to purchase the medicine from the respective volatile magic vendor.

Once you completed both collections, Skycales Scales and Skyscale Medicine, return to Gorrik to finish A Hopeful Cure, this is where you can continue with the next collection.

Returning to Gorrik will complete the Newborn Skyscales achievement. There is a cooldown period of two hours before you can progress to the next stage - indicated by the Waiting for Gorrik debuff, whereupon you will receive a mail from Gorrik informing you that he has relocated to Sun's Refuge. This cooldown will tick in real-time, so you do not have to be in-game for this period.
Saving Skyscales
Upon finding Gorrik in Sun's Refuge, you will be tasked with finding sources of magic to absorb into Skyscale eggs. This involves the completion of 12 small collections that unlock simultaneously. Some of the collection items are found within Derelict Delves.
BEFORE YOU START:
The Skyscale of Blood and Skyscale of Life first steps must be completed to acquire the buffs to get credit for kills/revives. Pick those up from Dragonfall and Divinity's Reach first.
Skyscale of Water
The Nature of Water
Speak with Grand Elder Water Djinn Khiafe or Grandmaster Elder Djinn Emine at Zagonur Cliffs in Domain of Vabbi. Defeat nearby enemies to draw the djinn out.
Southeast of Market Ruins Waypoint [&BHQKAAA=]
Waters of Ntouka
Swim to the bottom of Ntouka Pond in the Domain of Kourna.
Start at Allied Encampment Waypoint [&BFcLAAA=]
Waters of Castavall
Swim to the bottom of Flooded Castavall in Bloodtide Coast. Start at Castavall Waypoint [&BK4BAAA=]
Waters of Derelict Delve
Follow the guide for the Rune-Locked Doors to get into to the water-logged room. If you already have this achievement done - head south from Derelict Delve Waypoint [&BKQKAAA=]. Swim in the water chamber in Derelict Delve in Desert Highlands.
Skyscale of Fire
The Nature of Fire
Speak with Grand Elder Water Djinn Khiafe or Grandmaster Elder Djinn Emine at Zagonur Cliffs in Domain of Vabbi. Defeat nearby enemies to draw the djinn out.
Start at Market Ruins Waypoint [&BHQKAAA=]
Fires of the Legion
Get burned by lava in the Great Imperial Smelter in the Black Citadel From Junker’s Waypoint [&BDcEAAA=], head southeast into the Great Imperial Smelter.
Fires of the Mountain
From Maelstrom’s Waypoint [&BM0CAAA=], jump into any body of lava. Get burned by lava within Mount Maelstrom.
Fires of a God
Start at Necropolis Waypoint [&BEoKAAA=], follow the road north, then left at the fork. Left once more at the next fork, heading to the bottom of The Foundry. Walk into, and take damage from any of the furnaces in The Hearth in the Domain of Vabbi [&BG0KAAA=]
Fires of the Depths
From Derelict Delve Waypoint [&BKQKAAA=], go south. Get burned by lava in the fire chamber in Derelict Delve in Desert Highlands. Do not need to enter the fire chamber from the Rune-Locked Doors achievement.
Skyscale of Ice
The Nature of Ice
Go up to the upper decks of the Kodan Ship from Blue Ice Shining Waypoint [&BIUCAAA=]. Speak with Frigid Paw who will be waiting at the top of the ramp.
Ice of the Land
Follow the guide for the Rune-Locked Doors to gain access to the ice room. If you already have this achievement done - Head south from Derelict Delve Waypoint [&BKQKAAA=] into the dwarven ruins.
Expose your Skyscale egg to the icy chamber.
Ice of the Sea
Start at Revolution’s Heart Waypoint [&BKYLAAA=], head southeast towards the Ice Floe. Near Freedom’s Catchment [&BMELAAA=].
Ice of the Air
Become encased in an ice prison caused by any of the ice storms in Bitterfrost Frontier or during the Claw of Jormag world boss event.
Skyscale of Earth
The Nature of Earth
Speak with Grand Elder Water Djinn Khiafe or Grandmaster Elder Djinn Emine at Zagonur Cliffs in Domain of Vabbi. Defeat nearby enemies to draw the djinn out.

Winds of the Waste
Get knocked down by a Dust Mite Twister, head East of Cragged Vale Waypoint [&BKUKAAA=] in Domain of Vabbi towards Eastern Mihan Hillsides to find Dust Mite Twisters.
Winds of the Garden
There is 4 different Keepers that you can fight to open the portal to the Hidden Garden

Avernan Waypoint — [&BM8CAAA=] - Keepers of Light
Oxbow Isle Waypoint — [&BNECAAA=] - Keepers of Waves

Once entered, Cantles of Sky is located on the north end of the garden. At the very north end of the garden, you will see mushrooms that you can hop on. Follow the mushrooms and they will lead you to Cluster of Wind at the top, interact with this to finish!

The Nature of Growth
Enter the Omphalos Chamber and speak with the teacher.
Start from the Upper Commons Waypoint [&BLoEAAA=] and head east to the seed elevator
Growth of Strawberries
Start at Brightwater Waypoint [&BJEKAAA=] head northwest. The strawberry patch will be by the waterfall towards the back of the cave.
Growth of Artichokes
Start at Necropolis Waypoint [&BEoKAAA=] go southwest, and them climb up. The artichokes will be right there on the cliff.
Growth of Cauliflower
Just southeast of Olishar’s Oasis Camp Waypoint [&BCgKAAA=] you will climb the cliffs. The cauliflower patch is located on the cliffs above, guarded by harpies.
Growth of Carrots
East of Bonestrand Waypoint [&BNwKAAA=], you will climb up the embankment. The carrot patch is to the north on the embankment, guarded by jacaranda.
Skyscale of Death

Start at Necropolis Waypoint [&BEoKAAA=], climb the stairs south. Speak with Sister Lissa
Death of the Exile
Visit the dead at Exile’s Rest [&BLAKAAA=] in Elon Riverlands. Take Olishar's Oasis Camp Waypoint [&BCgKAAA=] to get there
Death of the Conquered
Visit the dead at the Bone Palace in the Desolation. Travel to Joko’s Domain Waypoint [&BAsKAAA=] and follow the road South.
Defeat the Canid Throneguard to open the throne doors. While this event is active, the staircases on the sides of the palace have to be used to enter the throne room.
Death of the Kings
Start at Lommuld Kraal Waypoint [&BD8KAAA=], go east. Visit the dead at the Tomb of Primeval Kings in Desert Highlands.
Death of the Oppressed
Go to Champion’s Dawn Waypoint [&BBoLAAA=] and go southeast, walk through the tunnel to get into the graveyard. It'll be directly at Field of the Hopeful Point of Interest [&BBsLAAA=]

Alektorophobia
Start at Fallen Angels Garrison Waypoint [&BFEBAAA=] attack the chickens that appear. It will become an angry chicken, take damage from it

Start at Market Ruins Waypoint [&BHQKAAA=], go west, climb up towards the top of King Joko’s Sky Garden Point of Interest [&BOoKAAA=]
Courage in the Face of Oblivion
Just head slightly north of Pact Command Waypoint [&BN4LAAA=]. It'll be at the tip of the ship.
Courage in the Face of One's Self
Defeat your doppelganger. You will need the map meta to be up during this time, you can see Timer here Go to Augury's Shadow Waypoint [&BFMKAAA=] and head south
Raising Skyscales
Gorrik will of course send you some more mail, calling you back once again to Sun’s Refuge. This is when he will give you a new item - A New Life. Wait for your Skyscale to hatch, and then talk again with Gorrik and he will give you the second item - A New Parent.
Skyscale Care
You will need to feed your Skyscale 4 times everyday, it takes a total of 3 days to complete this collection. You also need to feed it Skyscale Food not "Skyscale Treats" You are able to buy the Skyscale food from the trading post, or you can craft it.

If the hatchling won’t eat, you may need to play with it first, or clean it.
If you already have the food in your inventory before unlocking the achievement you have to manually add the food as an item achievement - right-click the item and add as item achievement
Skyscale Treats
Defeat creatures around the world to receive treats for your Skyscale. The treats can be given all at once.
Masticated Tasty Karka Leg
Obtain a treat for your Skyscale by defeating Karka.
Area: Camp Karka Waypoint [&BNcGAAA=] all over southsun cove.
Masticated Tasty Dried Cat’s Paw
Obtain a treat for your Skyscale by defeating Sand Lions.
Area: Amnoon Waypoint [&BGcKAAA=] directly northeast, in the Sifuri Sand Sea.

Obtain a treat for your Skyscale by defeating Ibogas.

Skyscale Toys
To keep the hatchling entertained, you must purchase the following toys from around Tyria:
Purchase a Hardy Ball for 1 gold, purchased from Jannat, a student of House Rolic found at Vehtendi Academy Waypoint [&BA8KAAA=] on the lower floor.
Bird Whistle, need to complete event "Escort Gortho's expedition to Bronzeglad Crossing" before buying from Gortho for 2 gold. Will spawn at Grogstogg's Kraal Waypoint [&BO8BAAA=]
Heavy-Duty Dolyak Blanket from Herder Lyot at Refuge Peak Waypoint [&BFIGAAA=] for 3 gold
You will also need to craft a Grow Lamp, or purchase one from the trading post.

Crafted by 400 Jeweler, with Recipe: Grow Lamp which is only available in Dry Top if Tier 3 or higher:

Once you have the items, you can take bring them back to your hatchling to unlock the relevant collection items.
Now head back to Gorrik at Sun’s Refuge, where will receive an item - A Growing Child. You will receive a mail from Gorrik to unlock the next collection after the two hour wait period.
Troublesom Skyscales
When you receive the mail from Gorrik , head to Sun’s Refuge, and talk to him. He will give you the first item - A Fearful Message.
Skyscale Lost
To track down the missing Skyscale, you will need to follow it to 21 different locations. Upon reaching each of the locations, it will appear, and interacting with it causes it to run away again.
You will also receive a Extra-Pungent Skyscale Treat. Using this within a relevant map will cause the Skyscale to appear, completing the closest location automatically.
You will also be given the recipe to craft additional treats from the following ingredients:
1 Smell-Enchancing Culture (purchased from Master Chefs for 4 gold each)
1 Charged Quartz Crystal
2 Slab of Red Meat
10 Piles of Bloodstone Dust
The treats can be crafted by a level 300 chef, or purchased from the trading post. A total of 20 (in addition to the free one) will therefore enable you to skip the vast majority of this collection, though you will need to travel to each of the maps in question.
