I'm delighted to share insights from my attendance at the "Strategies for Psychological Health and Safety Training and Evaluation" session on the third day of the Better Workplace Conference 2024 hosted by The Conference Board of Canada. Facilitated by Tegan Slot, where the speakers, Craig Hrynchuk and @Alison Wall provided their invaluable insights on in-depth techniques for integrating, assessing, and auditing psychological health and safety in the workplace. Craig Hrynchuk elaborated on the Psychological Health and Safety (PHS) program and how it is implemented in the workplace. One of the notable points he mentioned was, that as the organizational culture evolves, ownership of health and safety shifts towards operations groups. It is important to recognize the diverse cultures within an organization and their impact on psychological health and safety management. Jumping into a full management system prematurely may not be beneficial, instead, focus on gap assessments and gradual adoption to ensure readiness and effectiveness. In addition to that, he emphasized the importance of continuous learning, particularly in light of the fact that some professionals still underestimate the significance of mental health.Allison focussed on the importance of integrating psychological health and safety into organizational policies and practices, highlighting the need for management commitment and leadership support. This integration involves incorporating psychosocial risk factors and psychological hazards into hazard identification processes and training programs for supervisors and managers. Additionally, managing claims, return-to-work programs, and modified work arrangements also incorporate psychological health and safety considerations.I am appreciative of the insightful knowledge and pleased to have the opportunity to share them with my professional network! #BetterWorkplaceConference2024#EmployeeWellbeing#psychologicalwellbeing #psychologicalsafety #BWC24#BWC2024

Psychological Health and Safety is not a one-size-fits-all approach. It's an opportunity to be creative to build a workplace where employees feel authentic, valued and motivated to come to work.Recently I had the privilege of facilitating a dynamic panel discussion alongside Lana Rubinstein, Dr. Tessa Bailey and Mr Guastalegname. Here are 4 great insights:➡ Understanding obligations and staying informed is vital - it is not just a "tick-the-box" exercise ➡ Actively involving employees in creating a supportive, engaging environment for is crucial for sustainable change ➡ Wellbeing programs have their place but are not the solution for everything. Using them to avoid addressing hazards in a workplace is insufficient and ineffective➡ Good leaders demonstrate emotional intelligence and authentically promote a culture that values each worker Thanks to Risk Strategies, The OPUS Centre, Intertek SAI Global and Fusion Safety for their commitment to creating #workplaces that prioritise #wellbeing, #safety and productivity in harmony!
