The article contains spoilers from the 100 Years Quest manga.
Fairy Tail 100 Years Quest has finally aired in 2024’s Summer anime lineup, and the sequel has introduced all manner of god-like characters and magic. Among these newly revealed characters is a group of dragons known as the Five Dragon Gods, with their dominion expanding all over the continent of Guiltina. With strength far surpassing the Dragon King Acnologia, these five dragons rightfully assume the title of Dragon God.
As the overarching antagonistic group of the 100 Years Quest sequel, the Five Dragon Gods are an integral part of the premise. However, their role in the narrative is much more nuanced than being mere villains, as each dragon has played its role in maintaining peace in Guiltina. While some of the Dragon Gods wish for peace, others are hell-bent on erasing humanity, making them Fairy Tail’s biggest threat in the sequel.

Fairy Tail: Longest Arcs In The Manga, Ranked
Fairy Tail features an array of great story arcs; here's a rundown of the longest ones present in the manga.
The Origins of the Five Dragon Gods
The Dragon Gods Were Once Weak Dragons That Fled in Fear
The Five Dragon Gods were originally regular dragons who resided in Ishgar, but they were forced to flee and seek refuge in Guiltina in fear of being slayed by Acnologia. However, the dragons grew in power overtime, even surpassing the strength of the Black Dragon. Their unrivaled power eventually earned them the title of “Dragon God,” a reflection of their inexplicable power and the reverence their followers held for them.
The quest is quite simple. There are five "Dragon Gods" in Guiltina. You must seal them away.

To maintain balance within Guiltina, the Five Dragon Gods assumed a dormant state, only to awaken in the case of a major disturbance. Their passive status is also meant to ensure the Dragon Gods don’t end up killing each other in a cataclysmic battle. Despite some Dragon Gods being pacifists, the entire group was deemed a threat due to their mighty status, which led to Elefseria starting the 100 Years Quest more than a century ago.
Mercphobia
The Pacifist Water Dragon God
Mercphobia was the very first Dragon God to be revealed in the 100 Years Quest sequel, though his character was rather contrary to what viewers were initially led to believe. Revered as a savior in the town of Ermina, Mercphobia is a benevolent Dragon God who looks after his followers. However, he wasn’t always known for his pacifism, as he used to be a ruthless monster in his early days.

Mercphobia is currently the only Dragon God that has allied with the Fairy Tail guild, largely due to their similar views on the matter. However, Mercphobia’s growing power still remains a threat, as his Water Dragon Slayer Magic is set to bring disaster wherever he goes, eventually inundating any town he resides in.
Aldoron
The Behemoth Wood Dragon God
Aldoron entered a state of deep slumber after a near-death encounter with Acnologia, with his followers eventually forming the city of Drasil on parts of his colossal body. However, Aldoron is a two-faced dragon, as this supposedly kind dragon merely used the inhabitants of Drasil for their life force, in turn healing himself from their mana.
Dragons are the pinnacle of all living things! The thought of conversing with humans is absurd!

Aldoron viewed humans as nothing more than insects, as he claimed dragons to be the apex of power. He backed his claims with his own exceptional power, with his Wood Dragon Slayer Magic wreaking havoc in his fight against Natsu. While Aldoron’s power was eventually sealed away, the remnants of his magic were extremely potent, which ended up forming an expansive forest in his final resting place.
Ignia
The Power-Hungry Fire Dragon God
Ignia boasts the moniker of Fire Dragon God, a befitting title for the son of the Fire Dragon King, Igneel. Ignia was among the six dragons who fled to Guiltina, though he eventually amassed enough power to even surpass Acnologia. Obsessed with power and strength, Ignia seeks to defeat Natsu to proclaim himself the strongest living being on Earthland.
The power of fire is to burn everything. To burn the world. And live amongst the raging flames!

Ignia’s character is rather morally ambiguous, as he has crossed paths with team Natsu on multiple occasions, yet he intends on fighting Natsu once he seals away all the Dragon Gods and becomes stronger. Ignia is a man of many mysteries, though his heinous goal of reinstating the age of dragons remains ever apparent.
Selene
The Sadistic Moon Dragon God
Selene is another complex character among the Five Dragon Gods’ lineup, as her initial persona of a sadistic killer is merely a facade to maintain peace between the dragons. Her role as the guild master of Diabolos, a guild comprising dragon eaters, is also a ruse to keep Guiltina’s power balance in check.

Nevertheless, Selene is still responsible for all manner of chaos and destruction, and her most significant crime is blackmailing the White Mage Faris to eliminate Earthland’s magic. With the power to move between dimensions, Selene is a powerful foe that is set to become one of the biggest obstacles in Fairy Tail’s 100 Years Quest.
Vierres
The Mysterious Gold Dragon God
Little is known about Vierres’ true form, as the Dragon God now exists in the form of Duke Barbaroa, the leader of the Gold Owl. His goal is to subjugate the other Dragon Gods and use them as his slaves. His arrogant persona is his primary trait, as he believes himself to be above both humans and dragons.
Vierres is capable of using Gold Dragon Slayer Magic, a potent form of dragon slayer magic that uses the element of goal as its main offense. While the true extent of Vierres’ power is yet to be revealed, it’s clear that he stands on par with the rest of the Dragon Gods.

Dogramag
The Supposedly-Deceased Earth Dragon God
While the Dragon Gods are often referred to as being a total of five, there were actually six Dragon Gods who fled to Guiltina. Known as the Earth Dragon God, Dogramag’s entire body was made of solid rock, and he was able to command the ground to his desire.
More than a hundred years ago, Elefseria was able to defeat Dogramag, though this was later revealed to be a farce. The Earth Dragon God merely laid dormant and used Elefseria’s heart as a catalyst to preserve his own life force. Dogramag’s end goal is to bring back the Age of Dragons, a resolve that he shares with his close friend Ignia.
